Nagarahole National Park or Rajiv Gandhi National Park is located in Kodagu district and Mysore district in Karnataka, India.It is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The park has rich forest cover, small streams, hills, valleys and waterfalls, and populations of Bengal tiger, gaur, Indian elephant, Indian leopard, chital and Sambar deer.The park ranges the foothills of the Western Ghats spreading down the Brahmagiri hills and south towards Kerala state.
Kali Tiger Reserve or Anshi National Park is a protected area and tiger reserve. It is located in Uttara Kannada district, in Karnataka, India. The park is a habitat of Bengal tigers, black panthers and Indian elephants, amongst other distinctive fauna.The tiger reserve is spread over an area of 1300 square kilometres.The park is home to several hydroelectric dams and a nuclear power station.The black panther, elephants and tigers live in the park but are rarely seen. Other large mammals here are Indian bison, sloth bear, Indian wild boar, bonnet macaque, northern plains gray langur, gray slender loris, several deer including: barking deer, mouse deer, sambar deer and spotted deer. Wild dogs, jackals, jungle cat, leopard cat, small Indian civet, Indian gray mongoose, flying squirrel, porcupine, Malabar civet, Indian giant squirrel and pangolin also make their home in the forests here.
Reptiles in the park include the king cobra, spectacled cobra, Russell's viper, saw-scaled viper, common krait, Indian rock python, rat snake, vine snake, green or bamboo pit viper and monitor lizards. Interesting birds include the Ceylon frogmouth, great hornbill, Malabar pied hornbill, Malabar gray hornbill, Indian gray hornbill and Asian fairy bluebird. Around 200 species of birds are recorded in the park. These include the distinctive adjutant stork, ashy woodswallow, black-crested bulbul, blue-headed pitta, brahminy kite, broad-billed roller, crested serpent eagle, great hornbill, golden-backed woodpecker, Malabar pied hornbill, Sri Lanka frogmouth and yellow-footed green pigeon etc.
Bandipur National Park is in Chamarajnagar district in the Indian state of Karnataka and second highest Tiger population in India.Bandipur supports a wide range of timber trees including: teak, rosewood, sandalwood, Indian-laurel, Indian kino tree, giant clumping bamboo, clumping bamboo and Grewia tiliaefolia.
There are also several notable flowering and fruiting trees and shrubs including: kadam tree, Indian gooseberry, crape-myrtle, axlewood, black myrobalan, Schleichera trijuga, Odina wodiar, flame of the forest, golden shower tree, satinwood, black cutch, Shorea talura, indigoberry.
Bannerghatta National Park is located near Bangalore, Karnataka.In 2002, a small portion of the park became a zoological garden, the Bannerghatta Biological Park.There are ancient temples in the park for worship and it is a destination for trekking and hiking. Within the national park area are six rural villages enclosed within three large enclosures for sheep and cattle farming.The park is part of a wildlife corridor for elephants which connects the BR Hills and the Sathyamangalam forest.

Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in the Western Ghats, in Khanapur Taluk of Belgavi District , Karnataka state, India.The Bhimgad forests are notable for the Barapede caves, the only known breeding area of the Wroughton's free-tailed bat, a threatened species on the verge of extinction. The sanctuary is also home to other rare species of flora and fauna.The sanctuary, with beautiful mosaic of woodlands and grass lands, is home to tigers, leopards, gaur, sloth bears, sambar, spotted deer, chitals, foxes, wild dogs, king cobras elephants, and other threatened species of mammals, birds and reptiles.

Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Kodagu District, Karnataka State, India.The sanctuary derives its name from the highest point of the mountain range, Brahmigiri Peak.The sanctuary contains evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, and in the higher altitudes are grasslands with shola. Bamboo plants are widespread. The sanctuary include lion-tailed macaques, Indian elephants, gaurs, tigers,jungle cats, leopard cats, wild dogs, sloth bears, wild pigs, sambars, spotted deer, Nilgiri langurs, slender loris, bonnet macaques, common langurs, barking deer, mouse deer, Malabar giant squirrels, giant flying squirrels, Nilgiri martens, common otters, brown mongooses, civets, porcupines, and pangolins.
Pythons, cobras, king cobras, and malabar pit vipers are also found in the sanctuary, as are birds such as emerald doves, black bulbuls and Malabar trogons.
The Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Ramanagar districts of Karnataka, India.An important religious centre within the sanctuary is Muthathi Anjaneya temple also located within the sanctuary are an ecotourism fishing resort and the Cauvery Fishing Camp at Bhimeshwari. The boundary of the sanctuary is well demarcated with the surrounding border areas consisting of agricultural lands and forests.The sanctuary mainly consists of dry deciduous forest, southern tropical dry thorn and riverine forests.It is home to various animals like Bengal tiger, Indian elephant, wild boar, Indian leopard, dhole, spotted deer, barking deer, sambar, four-horned antelope, black-naped hare, chevrotain, common langur, bonnet macaque, honey badger malabar giant squirrel, grizzled giant squirrel which is under the highly endangered category in the state of Karnataka.
Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka state in India.Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is a bird watcher's paradise, housing nearly 200 species of birds,most famous for the great hornbill and the Malabar pied hornbill. It is also the only known tiger reserve in India to report frequent sightings of the elusive black panther. It is also known to house the Indian sloth bear, the Indian pangolin, the giant Malabar squirrel, dhole, the Indian jackal and the muntjac. Sightings of the Indian elephant and the Indian peafowl are pretty common. The king cobra and the mugger crocodile are the prime reptilians in Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary.The forests in Dandeli are a mixture of dense deciduous trees interspersed with bamboo and teak plantations. The sanctuary is rich in flora and fauna. Crocodiles are a major wildlife attraction in this sanctuary.
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary also known as Pakshi Kashi of Karnataka is a bird sanctuary in the Mandya District of the state of Karnataka in India.Roughly 170 bird species have been recorded. Of these, the painted stork, Asian openbill stork, common spoonbill, woolly-necked stork, black-headed ibis, lesser whistling duck, Indian shag, stork-billed kingfisher, egret, cormorant, Oriental darter, spot-billed pelican and heron breed at Ranganathittu regularly. The great stone plover, and river tern also nest there, while the park is also home to a large flock of streak-throated swallows. About 50 pelicans have made Ranganathittu their permanent home. The islands are host to numerous small mammals including bonnet macaque, smooth coated otter, colonies of flying fox and common small mammals such as common palm civet and Indian gray mongoose.

Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary is located in Ballari district in Karnataka.This is Asia's first sloth bear Sanctuary.There is a watchtower within the sanctuary, opposite Karadikallu Gudda, that provides a vantage point to view the bears descending from the adjacent hillocks during evening hours.The flora of this sanctuary is primarily dry deciduous scrub and Southern thorn forests.The sanctuary's flagship species is the Indian sloth bear. It has a very stable population of sloth bears and they reside in the numerous caves found in the hillocks within the sanctuary. leopards, monitor lizards, mongoose, pangolins, star tortoises etc. are some of the other animals that abound in the sanctuary.
Jayamangali Blackbuck Reserve is in Tumkur district, karnataka State. It is a patch of grassland with Eucalyptus and Acacia auriculiformis. It has the largest contiguous population of blackbuck.More than 80 species of plants have been recorded from this area. Many of these plants have medicinal value.Sixty-seven species of butterflies belonging to seven families have been sighted in the area. Most of the species recorded are common throughout the Indian Peninsula and some are typical of the arid regions.19 species of mammals belonging to 11 families have been recorded in the area, including the near threatened blackbuck.
