Onam
Onam is an annual Indian harvest festival celebrated predominantly by the Hindus of Kerala.it is the official festival of the state and includes a spectrum of cultural events. Onam is celebrated in Kerala in remembrance of the good governance under the rule of daitya king Mahabali, a mythical king who once ruled Kerala. Onam happens always in the month of September, on the day of new moon.All nature seems as if regenerated; the flowers again shoot up, and the trees bloom, in a word, this season is the same as that which Europeans call spring. This festival seems, therefore, to have been instituted for the purpose of soliciting from the Gods a happy and fruitful year. It continues eight days and during that time the Indians are accustomed to adorn their houses with flowers and daub them over with cow's dung; because the cow, as already observed, is a sacred animal dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi, the Ceres of the Indians.
Attukal Pongala is a 10-day religious festival celebrated at the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram in the Indian state of Kerala. On the ninth day there is a huge gathering of millions of women in the temple surroundings. These women prepare a divine food made of rice in earthen pots and offer it to the Attukal Amma (Goddess of the Temple).The festival is marked as the largest annual gathering of women by the Guinness World Records.
Vishu is a Hindu festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala.The festival marks the first day of Medam, the first month of the Malayalam Calendar followed in Kerala. Thrissur Pooram is an annual Hindu temple festival held in Thrissur, Kerala, India. Vallamkali or Snake Boat Race is a traditional boat race in Kerala, India. It is a form of canoe racing, and uses paddled war canoes. It is mainly conducted during the season of the harvest festival Onam in spring. Vallam kali includes races of many kinds of paddled longboats and 'snake boats'. Each team spends about 6 lakh rupees for the Nehru Trophy.It is the major event and a major tourist attraction.
Makaravilakku is an annual festival held on Makara Sankranti in Kerala, India at the shrine of Sabarimala. The festival includes the Thiruvabharanam (sacred ornaments of Lord Ayyappan) procession and a congregation at the hill shrine of Sabarimala. An estimated half a million devotees flow to Sabarimala every year to have a darshan (vision) of this ritual on this day.

Painkuni Festival is celebrated annually in Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple, in Thiruvananthapuram,kerala. The main ritual of this festival is the hoisting of a ceremonial flag, called kodiyettu. After this, gigantic fiber-glass figures of Pandavas are placed at the eastern entrance of the temple. This is done to win the favor of Lord Indra, who is believed to be the god of rain.
Ambalapuzha Arattu is the main festival of Sri Krishna Swami Temple at Ambalapuzha,Kerala. Payippad Vallaarattu or Jalotsavam is a three-day water festival conducted in Payippad Lake, 6 km from Haripad of Kerala state in south India.This holy procession was done with the escort of boats. This festival attracts a lot of tourists. The religious procession was halted at the eastern boundary of Haripad, Nelpurakadavu. ‘Aranazhika Kshetram’ is a temple there in memory of that event.
